think a lot of ～とは？

think a lot of + 人（物）という構文で使われます。

直訳すると、「人（物）の事を沢山考える」ですが、これは、admire(称賛する）、respect(尊敬する）、「高く評価する」などの意味になります。

称賛していれば、その人について沢山考えますよね。

同じ意味のバリエーションがいくつかあります。
think highly of, think well of, think a great deal of, think much ofなど。

例）
＊I think highly of my teacher.
（私は、先生を尊敬しています）

＊The boss thinks a lot of her.
（上司は彼女を高く評価しています）

反意語としては以下のような表現があります。

think little of, not think much of（軽んじる、低く評価する、なんとも思わない）

例）
＊Don’t think little of the result.
（その結果を軽視するな）

think a lot of と think little of は一緒に覚えてしまいましょう。
