get over とは

get over は、塀を乗り越えたり、川を渡ったり、困難を乗り越えたり、辛い事を克服したりすると時に使えます。

共通イメージとしては、「困難な事を乗り越える」と覚えておいて、あとは創造力を膨らますといいのではないかと思います。overは、上を覆うようなイメージですが、getと一緒になると上を越えるイメージになります。
