七福神 (Shichifukujin)

日本文化を英語で話せるようになれば、話題が豊富になり、コミュニケーションもしやすくなります。しかし、日本文化を説明するためには、単語力が必要です。

そこで、英語に翻訳されている文献を使ってキーワードをピックアップしてみます。

七福神は、The Seven Gods of Good Luck、Seven Lucky Gods 、The Seven Gods of Fortuneなどのようにいくつか訳し方があります。

七福神の神は、仏教（Buddhism), 新道（Shintoism）, 道教（Taoism) の神(gods)や聖人（holy persons)で構成されています。

よく宝船（treasure ship)に乗った姿で描かれていますね。

元々は、古代中国（ancient China)の故事に７人の聖者（seven holy men)の話があり、それに倣って、日本でも７人の幸運の神（seven gods of good luck)を信仰になったようです。
