green lightとは？

green light には、「許可、承認」の意味があります。

ケーブルカーの名前は、Emirates Air Line です。
ドバイの航空会社の資本が入っているので、最低でも最初の１０年はこの名前が使われるようです。

話を元に戻しますが、green lightは、「許可、承認」の事なので、
to give a person the green light は、「人に、許可を与える」という意味になります。
