wake-up callのもう一つの意味とは？

モーニングコール（和製英語）を英語にすると、wake-up callになるのですが、wake-up callには、もう一つの意味があります。
Longmanの英英辞典では、以下のように定義されています。
an experience or event that shocks you and makes you realize that you must do something to change a situation:
（経験や出来事であり、ショックを与えたり、状況を変えないといけないと認識させるもの）

（彼の癌という診断は、我々に喫煙の危険性を認識させた）
wake-up callは、朝起こしてもらるという意味から、人生に対して目覚めさせる警告にも使われるというのが面白いですね。
